Logos & Identity
Verf's Grill & Tavern
Jim "Verf" Verfurth presented Plan 9 with a black and white photo of his relatives from 1927 as inspiration. This led me to research type and design trends of the early 1900's. Victorian and "Gaslight" style signage was chosen to inform the design of this upscale beer pub's logo and menu.
Transformance logo comps
The Consumer Credit Counseling Service undertook a rebranding effort in 2015. These logos were presented as two possibie options, incorporating the new name, "Transformance."
Horny Toad Cafe
The Horny Toad Cafe specializes in Southwest cuisine, with the owner making a commitment to locally-sourced produce and meats. Being an endangered species, the horny toad was chosen to represent the restaurant's efforts to celebrate and preserve Texas culture. I felt the logo should be fun but should still reflect the somewhat serious tone of the restaurant's underlying philosophy.
NSIGHTS logo options
Two logo designs submitted for TriMega's NSIGHTS program. NSIGHTS "provides TriMega partners with valuable market trend information and analysis to help them do business smarter."
Woods Kids logo
Logo for Woods Chapel Baptist Church of Arlington's Childrens Ministry.
Marigold Learning Academy
Marigold Learning Academy serves students diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome, Autism, and Pervasive Development Disorder (PDD) or related Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). The client required that a puzzle/flower object be the main focus of the logo mark. It took some tinkering to make the puzzle pieces and petals integrate into a unified whole, but in the end a quality logo emerged that was appropriate for the school.
Inspiration was drawn from Arabic calligraphy. The mark invokes both the image of a flame and a bird in flight. Hand drawn brushwork gives the mark an organic feel. Orange was chosen for it's energetic connotations.
Katherine Erenzo-Makeup Artist
Serving high profile clients for film, television and print, Katherine needed a sophisticated, eye-catching identity program. The tasteful minimalism and clean lines associated with the fashion industry guide this design. The multiple colored ellipses, a variation on the artist's color palette, hint at Katherine's wide spectrum of clients.
Think Tank logo for Trimega
Logo for a new affiliate networking model proposed by TriMega, an office products distributor
A metal band with a huge sound and attitude needs a mark that makes its presence known. 3-D software was used to give the logo real world perspective and volume.
FHLB Dallas Finance Conference
The annual Finance Conference hosted by The Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas gives its members an opportunity to learn about the latest trends and forecasts in the world of finance.
Multi-colored circles represent different spheres of knowledge overlapping and mixing. Engineering-style marks give the logo movement and represent expertise, planning and building for the future.
Motorcycle Gang of Denton (M.G.O.D.)
A bunch of regular guys with a need for speed, the Motorcycle "Gang" of Denton, ride hard, do their own modifications and repairs and maintain a singular disgust for posers.
To capture this personality, Plan 9 adopted a D.I.Y., used-and-abused aesthetic for their "brand".
Denton Ballet Academy
A ballet school carrying on the rigorous Russian Vaganova tradition deserves a graceful, elegant, and mature look.
Flowtronex needed an identity for their snowmaking division. Plan 9 choose to use the fundamental difference between Flowtronex and it’s competition as the basis for the logo: engineering and manufacturing complete systems as opposed to cobbling together parts as the competition does. Plan 9 combined a industrial-styled snowflake with a CAD drawing to illustrate precision and engineering superiority.
Flowtronex' "Integrated Water Management" means providing everything for water from it’s source to it’s use – filtration, salination, pumping, monitoring, as well as remote control from any internet connected computer.
Plan 9 Integrated elements from Flowtronex' brand identity (colors and the Humanist typeface) and paired them with a mark which connotes interconnected parts working as a whole.
Logo for a custom guitar maker in Denton, Texas. A wood shaving creates the letter "M" and lends a hands-on, hand-made feel to the mark.
Watkins Arabians is a horse breeder specializing in Arabian horses. They are a comparatively small farm and wanted a logo that grabbed attention and set them apart. Using a collage of marks inspired by Arabic calligraphy, the logo captures the beauty, grace and energy of this special breed of horse.
Whoopzie Daizie Greeting Cards
This upstart greeting company donates 20% of its annual net income to cancer-related organizations. Plan 9 felt the logo should reflect the energy and positive vibe of the company's founder, Amy Weaver.
