(In collaboration with The Design Syndicate)
Microtune approached The Design Syndicate
requesting a new look for their marketing
collateral. Being a leader in their industry, they
wanted a contemporary look that reflected this
status. Microtune manufactures microchips
responsible for translating radio signals into
audio, video, voice and data in consumer
electronics.
They pride themselves on being able to deliver
the highest fidelity, therefore delivering an
optimal user experience.
Plan 9 Design choose to create an abstract
depiction of this idea for the capabilities
brochure cover. The triad of hexagons
was created to symbolize areas of focus:
cable access and infrastructure, automotive
electronics, and next generation TV. It is a
unifying element throughout the materials,
with each focus area being differentiated by
it’s own specific color code.

The focus for the 2006 Dallas Museum of
Art’s Annual fund raising campaign was
to focus on child and family involvement
in the museum. The DMA also wanted to
incorporate a crayon into the materials as
a symbol for kids and fun. We decided on a classy
and fun treatment, centering the piece around illustrations
of kids recreating various pieces from the
museum’s collection in crayon. The illustrations
cover the wide spectrum of the museum’s
collection from pop art, to classical, modern
to historical.

The Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas’ Loan Insurance
protects it’s subscribers from falling interest rates. FHLB needed a
communication that informed it’s members of this new product. Figuring
out how to visually represent this concept in an emotionally engaging way took a bit of thinking.
We decided to use the analogy of a bridge (interest rates) falling out from under you to get the point across.

Supervisory Control And
Data Acquisition Software is used to control
multiple pumping systems from different
remote locations. With engineers being the
primary audience for this piece, Plan 9 Design
created a clean, no-nonsense layout with
a restrained, technical style.
A custom 3-D illustration gives the reader an idea
of how the product would be used in the field.

IWM – Integrated Water Management means
providing everything for water from it’s source
to it’s use – filtration, salination, pumping,
monitoring, as well as remote control from
any internet connected computer. To introduce
this evolution from pump manufacturer to
solutions provider, Flowtronex needed a
branding overhaul. Plan 9 Design produced
an (1) IWM logo, (2) brochure, (3) website
templates. Tradeshow graphics that employ the newly created branding
elements were also produced.
